White without any shade, “shooting stars” during the period of maximum Geminid activity are usually large and bright, and they cross the horizon quite “slowly”. The low flight speed of meteors is explained by the fact that it does not fly toward the Earth, but "catches up" with it. In combination with a large number of meteors (this year up to 120 per hour), this allowed the stellar to be awarded the informal title of “the most beautiful”.

Nevertheless, even if the sky turns cloudless, the moon can significantly interfere with observation - the full moon falls on December 12th. City dwellers can be hindered by city lighting even more.
